Kapoor & Sons..since 1921

‘Kapoor & Sons’ is the latest Dharma production manufacture starring Rishi Kapoor, Fawad Khan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt among other lead actors.
As customary with Dharma, the movie thrives on delinquencies in a common-man family, the little joys and chaos which relations can bring, and how fleeting can life really be.

The movie has these small plot points that immediately connect to the audience, like where two siblings have a strained aspect in their bond, but still care for each other, meanwhile the father and the mother too have their differences which translate into quarrels that appear rib-tickling and futile.
But soon the plot thickens, as these relationship problems surface with deeper manifestations like social and cultural stigmas, infidelity and child-favoritism.
The story is about how a family deals with such make or break situations.

Rishi Kapoor bags the trophy for audience’s favorite character with his raw innocence and spot on acting. Fawad Khan overshadows Sidharth in almost every department, be it acting, screen presence or leaving the ladies feel weak in their knees. Rajat Kapoor and Ratna Pathak add a lot of intensity with their powerful and precise deliveries.

Overall, it’s a good watch!

Celebrating Colors

Holi is yet another festival that commemorates the victory of good over evil. Most of us know the story, of how this bad guy, Hiranyakashyapu tries to kill his own son, Prahalad, for chanting his enemy’s name, and how his evil sister, Holika, tries to burn the little kid, but ends up herself reduced to ashes, while the boy remains unharmed.
The then public decides to celebrate this godly act, by playing with colors.

What I extract from this is we, the people, associate colors with emotions, with different states of our lives. And much like colors we adore some of them better than the others. We prefer adventure over monotony, we despise being sad, we want to be happy. We like receiving appreciations, but not so much when we receive corrections. We maintain our own set of favorite colors, we choose to ignore the ones we don’t like, and at last we judge those who happen to carry a different set of favorite colors. In the process, we lose sight of the fact, that there are all these colors for everyone, for me, for you, for all of us. We may choose to ignore them, but we just cannot avoid them. To find peace, is to accept them as they are, acknowledge them for what they are. If you agree with life, the life agrees with you. 🙂

So as we move back to our routine lives post this festival, let’s not walk forward just with our set of favorite colors, let’s walk on with acceptance to all the colors, they are most likely to be someone else’s favorite color, lets appreciate each other’s favorite colors and we’ll see that life is much like a rainbow, and its beautiful only when it is with all its colors.

Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation

Mission Impossible franchise has become that old magician who repeats the same tricks again and again with impalpable  vigor and gusto, but is of little help in catering to your fascinations; the fascination for that fresh action packed cinematic experience which is fast depleting!

Everything about the Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation is regressive. The story-line, the action sequence, the dramatics, the climax.. EVERYTHING!
The only novelty of the movie is that Tom Cruise gets older in every sequel. 😀

So, in summary, here’s the recipe for making an M.I.

  • Create an enemy for the US that has the power to wipe out the world, and only the US intel has the information on it. [No pressure, you could bring in the aliens or other life forms too, whatever pops in your head 😉 ]
  • Bring in a tech guy who has the capabilities of breaking into any digital security known to mankind but still works as a lame ass field agent to earn a living 😛
  • For all the physical work that needs brute strength like chasing down an airplane while wearing a suit, jumping off cliffs without slightest injuries, scaling the tallest of towers, or getting beaten up within the inch of life, recruit Tom Cruise.
  • Place a hot chick behind enemy lines, whose life he must save!!
  • Record all this in a message that will self destruct in 5 seconds.
  • Find a catchy title (That tells nothing about the movie!).

In conclusion, I’d like to say, that the movie will not bore you, but will disappoint you. [You could also fall asleep in the midst like my friend did.]

The Finger, or “Bird Is the Word”

Aah, an in- depth analysis of the rude gesture!

Strong Language

Nixon did it, and so did Kennedy. George W. Bush has been caught numerous times on tape grinning broadly and flashing what he called the “one-finger salute.” It has been described as “flipping someone off” or “giving someone the bird,” but when it comes right down to it, the gesture of raising the middle finger ultimately translates as “fuck you!” Every nation has its own array of verbal assaults, but they also have their arsenal of insulting gestures as well. In the United States, the ubiquitous finger is our call to arms. Unlike swearing aloud, which is based upon actual words with specific meanings, gestures are purely visual, and the finger has a kind of inherent meaning that words don’t have. In our case, the raised finger was initially most likely meant to resemble the erect penis, with the tucked-under fingers as testicles. As obvious as this may be, few…
